It's like magic...

Getting a haircut, that is! You go into the hair salon feeling "blah" and by the time they are done with you, you feel like a million dollars $ $ $ $ $ !!!! That was me today! It seems I've unknowingly started a birthday "tradition" (if you can call it that). For the past few years I've been going to get a hair cut during the month of my birthday. And in case you were wondering when that is...it's in October!

I didn't really plan it, but it all worked out. At least I think it did...

Feeling like a million bucks,

A year older

October 12

What a special day. I celebrated my 36th birthday... whoa...did I just say 36th? I'm no spring chicken! I am very grateful though because I have been truly blessed. My family came over and we had a dinner celebration. Thank you Lord for allowing me to turn one year older!

My sweet grandpa also turned 86 this month (Oct 16th)

Thank you, Mom!

I'm his favorite! (Shh...don't tell the others)

Even my uncle joined us for the special celebration!

I have been truly blessed!
With a happy heart, I say goodnight! Until next time...

Blue Moon & Pastelón

♫ ♪ Blue...moon...I saw you standing alone....♪ ♪ ♫ Last night we enjoyed the "blue moon" as we put up lights in our yard. I can't wait for Christmas time!

This morning we woke up and had a yummy breakfast (prepared by my mom of course) as well as warm coffee (made by me). Shortly after, my mom started making lunch/dinner. She made something special called "Pastelón". It's a delicious lasagna made with layers of fried plantains, ground beef, green beans and eggs. Here's how it turned out. It was finger lickin' good!

We enjoyed it! And in case you're wondering...there were no leftovers! Hahahaha!

Good night,

Welcome Chicken

To welcome his mother-in-law (who is visiting from a far-away land), my dear husband decided to prepare a whole chicken on the grill!! And it turned out to be a tasty treat! Come to think of it, you could prepare pretty much anything on the grill and it tastes good. I really enjoy food that is prepared that way. It changes the flavor of whatever you are making and gives it a yummy taste.

It only took him 1.5 hours to cook it! It was totally worth it...

We had a great dinner celebration with the "welcome chicken", congris (red beans), toasted bread with olive oil (on the grill of course), and the most delicious avocado you can imagine!

Good night everyone,
